Thanks so much for showing us around. Evie and Pearl have been going on about how much they loved feeding the fish, the friendly doggies, the dolphins they saw and the turtle they helped. Thank you Tin Can Bay Houseboats for an amazing holiday. We had a great week on the Whimbrel. The Sandy Straits is a beautiful place to explore and is so easy to navigate with their system. We caught lots of crabs unfortunately the fish were not around due to an infestation of toad fish. It was the wrong time of year. One of the highlights was the K’gari dingo trying to steal our crab pot. Something you don’t see everyday. Cheeky buggers. Sam & Russell were very friendly and courteous. It was such a treat to motor in lovely and peaceful waters on Gentleman Tom for a week on a very clean and nicely kitted houseboat! We look forward to being back in better weather as it rained heavily for 3 days and we couldn’t explore as much as hoped to. We are a German couple currently travelling through Australia for the first time, now in our eighth week. Normally, we do not leave reviews about our stays or activities — but in this case, we are very happy to make an exception. Unfortunately, the boat hire is not particularly highlighted on the internet (we received the recommendation from our local campground). Sam, the owner, gave us excellent advice, taking the day’s conditions into account. What began as a simple idea to rent a small dinghy for a short trip turned into a wonderful four hour outing. The next morning, we joined an exceptional 2.5 hour tour with skipper Peter to Fraser Island, including a shore visit. We would like to express our warmest thanks to the team at Tin Can Bay Houseboats — especially Sam and Peter — for their outstanding guidance and heartfelt hospitality. The boats are in excellent condition, and the price–performance ratio is very good.
